An LOI is commonly referred to as a “letter of intent”, but can also be called a “letter of interest”, or “letter of inquiry”. There are generally no instructions, so how do you respond?

- Budget
Always read the directions in the RFP or NGO carefully. More funders are asking for electronic LOI’s which may be a simple Survey Monkey online or a more complicated proprietary form. Generally government agencies don’t require the LOI, but ask for you to submit your interest for the sole purpose of estimating how many grant reviewers they will need for a given grant competition.
